SILICONE MOLD NEED

Calculate Your Silicone Mold Needs

Enter your production target, mold cycle, productivity and waste margin; Let the system instantly calculate the active, spare and total mold needs.

Stone Powder and Marble Powder Calculator

Enter the finished Net Product weight in grams. The system calculates the stone powder, marble powder, water and Pigment amounts based on the selected hardness.

The safest choice for beginners is generally a 4/5 balanced mixture.
Weigh the finished and dried Product, write down the grams obtained.
It comes automatically according to the hardness selection, you can change it if you want.
It is calculated based on the amount of dry powder. If you are not using Pigment, write 0.

Example calculation: You can enter the values and calculate to produce 10 units of 180 g Net weight Product.

Calculation logic

The monthly or daily target is first divided by the working day. Then, waste rate, operational efficiency and mold cycle time are taken into account. As a result, the daily production capacity of a mold is compared with the target demand.

  • You can enter the target monthly or daily.
  • You can choose simple or detailed conversion logic.
  • The reserve ratio is added for the continuity margin in production.

Practical notes

  • As the cycle time decreases, the number of active dies required decreases.
  • Productivity rate and waste rate directly affect the result.
  • In special production, final control should be made with trial data.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does the number of products in a mold mean?
It refers to the number of pieces coming out simultaneously in a single cycle.

What is the difference between simple and detailed cycle?
Simple mode works by entering a single duration. Detailed mode collects filling, curing, emptying and cleaning times separately.

Why is a spare die added?
Maintenance is to keep production safe for unexpected downtime and quality control.

Can I take the result directly to production?
This tool is for planning. It would be better to do a short test on your own line before mass production.

RTV-2 Silicone and Catalyst Calculator

According to the value given by the manufacturer, 32 g of catalyst should be added for 1 kg of RTV-2 silicone. The calculator below shows the amount of catalyst and total mixture based on your total amount of RTV silicone.

Example: For 1 kg of RTV-2, enter 1000.
Default manufacturer value: 32 g/kg.
It is safer to prepare a small amount of excess mixture in the first attempts.

These calculations have been prepared according to the values given by professionals. Please do not start mass production without testing according to your own material, ambient temperature and mold structure before mass production.

RTV-2 mixing and casting technique

  1. Weigh the RTV-2 silicone and catalyst separately with a precision balance.
  2. After adding the catalyst to the base silicone, stir the mixture slowly and continuously in one direction.
  3. Perform controlled scraping with a spatula to ensure that there is no unmixed silicone left on the edge and bottom of the container.
  4. To reduce adhesion to the plastic master model, spray the mold with release agent or mold stripper spray before casting.
  5. Pour the mixture into the mold in a thin stream from about 10 cm above. Proceeding the casting from a single point and in a single direction reduces air bubbles.
  6. If you are using a vacuum machine, check for foam and air bubbles according to the manufacturer's instructions.

RTV-2 Silicone Volume Calculator

Enter the inner dimensions of your master model and mould box to see the RTV-2 silicone quantity to pour, calculated from the volume difference.

This unit is used for both the master model and mould-box measurements below.
1
Master model outer dimensionsMeasure the piece you will mold. Take the measurement from the outside of the model; For round models, enter the diameter in the Width / Diameter field.
The widest measurement of the model from right to left. In the round model, enter the diameter from outside to outside.
The length of the model from front to back.
Measurement from the base of the model to its highest point.
The number of parts to be in the same mold box.
2
Mould box inner dimensionsMeasure the gap where the silicone will be poured. Do not include the box wall; Measurements should be taken inside out.
Mould-box inside width. Enter the inner diameter for a round box.
Mould-box inside front-to-back length.
Measurement from the bottom of the box to its upper inner surface.
Additional allowance for silicone that may remain in the container during mixing and pouring.

How to calculate silicon from volume?

  1. Take the width, length and height measurements of the main model with a tape measure. For round models, write the diameter instead of the width and length.
  2. Use the inside measurement of the mold box, not its wall thickness; silicone is poured only into the inner volume.
  3. It is found by the formula: silicone volume = box internal volume − (model volume × quantity).
  4. For weight, the volume is multiplied by the density of 1.30 g/cm³; You can add the wastage share as a percentage.
  5. Use the RTV-2 Catalyst tool at the top with the amount of silicon found to find out the catalyst ratio.

This calculation is a theoretical approach. Before mass production, you need to make a small trial casting with your own material.

Vacuum Chamber Calculator

Write down the amount of RTV-2 silicone you will pour into the mold in liters. Since silicone will foam and expand under vacuum, let us recommend which liter vacuum pan you should buy.

Write the total volume of silicone you will pour into the mold in liters.
Amount of silicone-
Recommended chamber (safe)-
Recommended chamber (comfortable)-
Silicone that you can put in the boiler-
Sample calculation: The recommended boiler volume for 1 liter of silicone appears below. Fill in the field above to calculate.

How to choose a vacuum boiler?

  1. Calculate the total volume of RTV-2 silicone to be poured into the mold in liters (you can find it in the volume tool).
  2. Under vacuum, silicone expands and foams; To prevent overflow, the entire boiler volume is not filled.
  3. As a rule, approximately 1 liter of silicone can be placed in a 5-liter boiler; The remaining volume is the expansion margin.
  4. You can estimate the maximum amount that can fit into the boiler with the formula: silicone to be put into the boiler = boiler liter ÷ 5.
  5. Select the liter page closest to your needs.vacuum machine" rehberinden explore.

This calculation is a practical guide; Expansion rate may vary depending on silicone type, container shape and vacuum power. You can increase the share by making a trial casting.

Silicone Mould Requirement Calculator

Enter your production target, run time, mold cycle and spare allowance. Let the system instantly calculate your daily, monthly, minimum and recommended silicone mold needs.

Enter a single destination; The other value is calculated automatically.
In simple mode, a single time is entered; in detailed mode, filling, waiting, emptying and preparation times are added up.
Example: if the bar cycle for soap is 120 minutes, use this field.

Monthly target-
Daily target-
Daily requirement including waste-
Required daily dump-
Mould cycle time-
A pattern daily cycle-

minimum active pattern-
replacement mold-
Safe capacity-
Example calculation: Calculation is made with a monthly target of 15,000 pieces, 25 working days, 10 hours of production time and a 6-cavity mold.

Calculation logic

The user enters the goal monthly or daily; the system divides this by the working day, adds waste and productivity, then compares the mold cycle time to daily capacity.

Waiting and cooling times are decisive in soap production. Include mold evacuation and re-preparation allowance in the cycle.

Okuma Note

minimum is the number of molds that theoretically meets production. The recommended result shows the total number of molds that can sustain daily production along with the allowance for spares.
