Rapid prototyping
Decide whether the prototype tests dimensions, appearance or function. Every iteration need not have a final finish. Do not transfer strength and shrinkage results from a substitute prototype material directly to production; validate the approved geometry in the intended casting material.
Product-specific checks
Size ring slots, hanging projections and contact edges around the intended jewellery. Thin hooks can create undercuts and fragile sections. Test the sample for sharp flash, tipping and everyday access before approving the design.
Application and sample checks
Define finished dimensions, casting material and critical surfaces first. Record production variables and reassess approval whenever the material or master changes; an earlier sample does not automatically validate a revised process.
